Shen Qingfang, Chairman of Zhen Ding Technology Group (TPE: 4958), a global leader in the printed circuit board (PCB) industry, has been awarded an honorary doctorate in management by Taiwan's National Central University (NCU). The ceremony, held on June 14 at the university's main auditorium, recognized Shen's outstanding leadership, cross-disciplinary integration, and long-standing contributions to Taiwan's high-tech sector.
In his acceptance speech, Shen expressed deep gratitude, noting, “An honorary doctorate is not just recognition — it's also a responsibility and a reminder to keep striving.”
Three guest speakers paid tribute to Shen's achievements from different perspectives: NTU Professor Emeritus and Zhen Ding board member Ko Cheng-En; NYCU Honorary Professor and Zhen Ding's chief advisor Mao Chi-Kuo; and Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-Cheng.
Since becoming chairman in 2005, Shen has transformed Zhen Ding from a small company with annual revenue of NT$3.1 billion (approximately RMB 754 million) into the world’s largest PCB manufacturer, with revenue exceeding NT$170 billion (around RMB 41.34 billion). Under his leadership, the company has maintained the top global position in the PCB industry for eight consecutive years since 2017.
Shen attributes his leadership philosophy to four principles: kindness, perseverance, altruism, and gratitude. From the outset, he prioritized environmental sustainability in an industry once criticized for pollution, investing heavily in eco-friendly infrastructure. Zhen Ding is the only Taiwanese PCB company listed in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for three consecutive years.
Beyond business success, Shen has made corporate social responsibility a core mission — championing green manufacturing and ESG governance. Under his leadership, Zhen Ding became the first PCB company globally to receive Platinum-level AWS water stewardship certification. In 2024, it also achieved top industry rankings in S&P Global's ESG assessment.
NCU President Shoou-Shyung Shiau praised Shen's integrity and commitment to sustainable business practices, which align closely with the university's core values. He called Shen a role model in corporate leadership and a powerful force in advancing industry innovation, sustainability, and education in Taiwan.
Reflecting on the honor, Shen humbly noted that he never received a single award during his school years — making this doctorate especially meaningful. Now in his 70s, he remains passionate about his work and committed to continuing his mission: leading with integrity, supporting others, and driving the industry forward with gratitude and resilience.
