On June 4, 2025, Würth Elektronik has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) to strengthen microelectronics innovation and advanced manufacturing in Hong Kong.
The partnership will support up to 100 local start-ups and SMEs through development services, knowledge transfer, and Würth Elektronik's global partner network. The initiative aims to bolster Hong Kong's position as an international hub for innovation and technology.
Founded in 2001, HKSTP is a government-backed organization that promotes entrepreneurship and tech development. Würth Elektronik, a leading global provider of electronic and electromechanical components, PCB solutions, and intelligent power and control systems, will contribute its expertise across the entire product lifecycle — from R&D and prototyping to production and commercialization.
The collaboration will leverage Würth Elektronik's existing technical presence in Hong Kong, including its Technical Service Center in the Hong Kong Science Park established in 2024. Over the next three years, HKSTP's InnoPark site will benefit from development support measures similar to Würth Elektronik's successful global initiatives.
As part of the new Engineering Service Program, selected start-ups will receive assistance with component selection, circuit optimization, and prototyping support at HKSTP's Proshop. Additional joint activities, including roadshows and training workshops for universities and schools, are also planned.
A Global Player with Local Commitment
The Würth Elektronik Group, founded in Niedernhall, Germany, employs approximately 7,500 people worldwide and generated €1.02 billion in preliminary sales in 2024. With 23 production sites and three business units operating internationally, it is one of the most successful divisions of the Würth Group.
Operating under the joint umbrella brand of Würth Elektronik, the company combines a broad portfolio of services with a deeply embedded corporate culture. The group is known for its strong team spirit, customer proximity, and a commitment to service and quality — encapsulated by its promise: “more than you expect.”
Leadership Perspectives
