Simmtech Gains Spotlight as Samsung and SK Complete CXL Tests; Showcases Next-Gen PCBs at KPCA 2025

Shares of Simmtech Co., Ltd. (KOSDAQ: 222800) surged more than 12% this week as investors bet on the company's role in supplying advanced substrates for next-generation memory. The rally came after reports that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix had completed compatibility tests in the U.S. with Marvell's Structera controller, which is based on CXL 2.0 technology.

CXL (Compute Express Link) is viewed as a breakthrough interconnect standard, enabling CPUs, accelerators, and memory to share resources seamlessly—an essential step for scaling AI and data center performance. Market research firm Yole Intelligence projects the global CXL market to grow from US$2.1 billion in 2025 to US$16 billion by 2028, with CXL DRAM accounting for over 70% of the total.

Simmtech, a leading PCB and semiconductor substrate maker, is well positioned to benefit. The company counts Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron among its customers and supplies substrates for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and emerging interconnect technologies. Founded in 1987, Simmtech specializes in flip-chip BGA, memory module PCBs, and advanced semiconductor packaging substrates, and is expanding its footprint in AI-driven server and data center markets.

At the KPCA Show 2025, held in Incheon from September 3 to 5, Simmtech showcased a wide range of next-generation substrates. Highlights included new memory module solutions such as SOCAMM, LPCAMM, and CXL-based designs, as well as ultra-thin and hybrid substrates tailored for AI and high-performance computing. The company also presented system IC substrates like FC-CSP and RF-SiP, underlining its dual strength in both memory and system semiconductor packaging.

Industry observers noted that Simmtech's portfolio addresses critical challenges in high-speed data transfer, thermal management, and power efficiency—areas increasingly vital to AI, cloud computing, and automotive electronics. Executives emphasized that the exhibition was not only an opportunity to showcase technology, but also a signal of the company's intent to lead in the era of AI-driven semiconductor innovation.
