On July 15, South Korea's Hoseo University signed a strategic partnership agreement with Simmtech Co., Ltd. (KOSDAQ:222800), a leading global manufacturer of semiconductor package substrates and printed circuit boards (PCBs), to jointly cultivate global technical management talent from the company's overseas subsidiaries.
The agreement, signed at Hoseo's Asan campus, introduces a new industry-academic cooperation model that will bring foreign employees from Simmtech's international branches—located in Japan, China, and Malaysia—to Korea for advanced graduate studies. Simmtech, which generates over KRW 1 trillion (approximately USD 720 million or CNY 5.17 billion) in annual revenue, is recognized as a key player in the global semiconductor substrate market.
Selected overseas employees will be enrolled in Hoseo's “Global MOT” (Management of Technology) master's and doctoral programs, which combine tailored instruction in English and Chinese with hands-on training using real-world semiconductor packaging lines. The curriculum also includes Actual-task Based Learning (ABL) modules, designed to solve practical challenges from Simmtech's global operations.
“This partnership is a model for cultivating global field-ready talent through joint efforts between academia and industry,” said Dr. Seo Won-kyo, Head of Industry-Academia Cooperation at Hoseo University. “We aim to contribute to the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry in the Chungcheong region.”
Simmtech CEO Jeon Young-sun added, “Providing overseas employees with the opportunity to earn advanced degrees and work at headquarters will be a powerful motivator. We expect to secure the next generation of core talent to lead our global business.”
