On July 9, South Korea-based Shinhyup Electronics Co., Ltd. announced a major investment of KRW 70 billion (approximately USD 50 million or CNY 361 million) to build a new automated printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing facility in Incheon, despite domestic economic headwinds. The company expects the new plant to double line speed, reduce handling defects below 0.5%, and achieve a monthly capacity of 50,000 square meters through laser direct imaging (LDI) processes capable of 35μm line/space resolution. Setup is slated for completion by June, with SQ certification targeted between July and August.
Founded in 1986, Shinhyup has specialized in PCB manufacturing for nearly 40 years, serving global automotive and electronics clients such as DENSO, LG Electronics, Mobase, and Sekonix. Notably, the company was honored by DENSO in May for outstanding supplier performance, further affirming its strong industry reputation.
Shinhyup anticipates significant sales growth from the Incheon expansion. When Chairman Kim Tae-hoo acquired the company in 2018, annual sales stood at KRW 28.9 billion. That figure rose to KRW 53.7 billion in 2024, and the company has set a target of KRW 72 billion for 2025.
In parallel with its domestic expansion, Shinhyup is scaling its international footprint. On July 15, Indian electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider Syrma SGS Technology announced a joint venture agreement with Shinhyup and its wholly owned subsidiary Syrma Strategic Electronics. The JV will manufacture advanced multi-layer and flexible PCBs, with Syrma SGS holding a 75% stake and Shinhyup 25%. Syrma will appoint the majority of board members, and the deal was confirmed to be structured at arm's length with no related-party implications.
This JV aligns with Shinhyup's broader strategy to support India's push toward PCB self-sufficiency. Earlier this month, Syrma SGS also revealed plans to invest INR 18 billion (approximately CNY 1.5 billion) in building the country's largest multilayer PCB and copper-clad laminate factory in Andhra Pradesh, where Shinhyup will provide both technology and marketing support.
With domestic automation upgrades and international partnerships underway, Shinhyup is positioning itself as a competitive global player in the automotive and advanced electronics PCB market.
