Sept. 25, 2025 (Germany) — SCHMID Group (SHMD), a global provider of equipment and solutions for the electronics industry, has announced a major expansion of its product portfolio to meet surging demand for advanced packaging substrates and high-performance server boards in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
The AI boom is reshaping the semiconductor landscape. Analysts forecast around 10% annual growth in semiconductors and advanced packaging over the next five years, outpacing the traditional PCB market's 8%. The strongest momentum is expected in AI server boards, projected to grow 20% annually, while IC substrates are set to expand 15%, driven by miniaturization and new interconnect needs.
Broader InfinityLine Portfolio
SCHMID has expanded its InfinityLine family to address these growth markets:
● InfinityLine H+ remains the company's top-selling system.
● InfinityLine V+ targets increasingly complex high-end PCBs.
● InfinityLine C+ is rapidly becoming SCHMID's second-largest revenue contributor.
● InfinityLine L+, a chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) solution for panel-level substrates, and InfinityLine P+, next-generation single-panel plating equipment, will launch in late 2025 to support advanced substrate and AI server PCB production.
With this expanded lineup, SCHMID is strengthening its role as a key enabler of next-generation substrates and AI server boards.
Next-Generation Substrate Solutions
Beyond InfinityLine, SCHMID is advancing technologies to support industry miniaturization and integration:
● QuantumLine and SCHMID-AVACO Plasma Equipment enable high-yield glass core substrate production.
● ET-Board technology supports panel-level Cu-damascene manufacturing for large-scale miniaturization.
As demand grows for Chip-on-Wafer-on-PCB (CoWoP) architectures, SCHMID aims to deliver industry-leading yields with the lowest cost of ownership.
The company expects 2025 to be a transition year, with accelerated, above-market growth from 2026 onward. AI-driven product lines are projected to become the main revenue drivers through 2026–27.
"The AI era is fundamentally transforming the electronics and semiconductor industries. SCHMID is proud to provide the critical technologies that enable glass core substrates, panel-level Cu damascene, and next-generation AI server boards. With our expanded InfinityLine portfolio, we are ready to lead this transformation together with our customers," said Christian Schmid, CEO of SCHMID Group.
