onsemi (Nasdaq: ON) announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Vcore power technology and related intellectual property licenses from Aura Semiconductor. The strategic deal is expected to strengthen onsemi's power management portfolio and roadmap, advancing its vision of delivering end-to-end power systems for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers—from grid to core.
"This acquisition underscores our commitment to meeting the energy and efficiency demands of future AI data centers with differentiated intelligent power solutions," said Sudhir Gopalswamy, president of Intelligent Sensing and Analog Mixed Signal Group at onsemi. "Integrating these technologies into our broader power management portfolio will allow us to deliver solutions with higher power density, efficiency, and thermal performance, ultimately enhancing compute capacity per rack."
onsemi brings decades of expertise in silicon and silicon carbide (SiC) technologies, offering leading solutions for solid-state transformers, power supplies, 800V DC distribution, and core power delivery. By incorporating Aura's technology, onsemi aims to become one of the few companies capable of addressing the demanding power requirements of modern AI infrastructure with scalable and practical designs.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions. onsemi anticipates minimal impact on GAAP and non-GAAP earnings per share in the first full fiscal year after completion, with accretion thereafter. Further details will be disclosed in the company's Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
