South Korean PCB chemical specialist YMT (KOSDAQ:251370) reported that revenue from its China subsidiary doubled in the second quarter, with further growth expected in the second half of the year. The company attributed the surge to official qualification of its ENEPIG (Electroless Nickel Electroless Palladium Immersion Gold) surface finishing process by a Taiwan-based AI graphics substrate maker, enabling full-scale supply for high-performance graphics card and server boards.
YMT said demand for its ENEPIG technology is expanding rapidly as global customers recognize its reliability in final surface finishing for advanced PCBs. Combined with improvements in cost structure, the company expects profitability to strengthen further in the second half.
In addition to its core business, YMT is advancing in glass substrates with through-glass vias (TGV), considered a key material for next-generation semiconductor packaging. Glass substrates address limitations of conventional PCBs in heat resistance and fine-line circuit formation, making them attractive for AI, 5G, and high-performance computing applications.
The company has developed proprietary electroplating chemicals essential for copper filling in TGV manufacturing and is conducting joint tests with domestic and overseas packaging houses. Copper plating of via holes is one of the most technically demanding steps in TGV production, an area where YMT is competing head-to-head with leading global chemical suppliers.
YMT is also leveraging synergies with its subsidiary YPT, established in 2007, which operates plating infrastructure and regulatory approvals. Using YMT's chemicals, YPT provides outsourced plating services and glass substrate samples to domestic and international customers—currently the only such service available in Korea. The company expects this collaboration to accelerate market penetration.
"With profitability recovering in our core business and competitiveness building in next-generation materials like glass substrates, we are confident of maintaining growth momentum in the second half," a YMT spokesperson said.
