JNTC Completes Korea's First Glass Substrate Plant, Mass Production Set for H2 2025

JNTC announced on May 22 that it has completed South Korea's first dedicated semiconductor glass substrate plant, capable of producing up to 10,000 units per month. The move marks JNTC's full-scale entry into the advanced substrate market, a key future growth driver for the company. Mass production and customer shipments are expected to begin in the second half of 2025, with the company anticipating its first significant revenue from the business.

JNTC formally entered the glass substrate business in April 2024 and has since signed NDAs with 16 global clients. It is currently providing customized samples tailored to each customer's specifications.

Earlier this month, JNTC absorbed its subsidiary COMET, which specializes in plating and etching processes. With this merger, the company completed vertical integration of its production line and internalized core manufacturing technologies developed by affiliate JNTE. This move is expected to significantly enhance JNTC's cost and quality competitiveness.

The new production facility is located in the Mado Industrial Complex in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, and is equipped for monthly output of up to 10,000 units. In anticipation of rising global demand, the company plans to expand production capacity at its Vietnam subsidiary in the fourth quarter of 2025.

A company spokesperson said the accelerating glass substrate business is expected to become a core mid-to-long-term growth engine. In addition to semiconductor glass substrates, JNTC is developing other high-value products related to semiconductors and AI. The company aims to establish itself as a key global player in the AI-driven semiconductor materials market.

CEO Nam-Hyuk Cho added that more details on the TGV glass substrate business and other new initiatives will be shared during a corporate briefing scheduled for June 30 at the KRX conference hall. He emphasized JNTC's goal of transforming into a global leader in advanced materials through the rollout of AI-driven business models and volume production starting in the second half of 2025.
