Intel Names New China Leader as Longtime Chairwoman Retires

Intel announced on September 16 that Dr. Rui Wang, Chairwoman of Intel China, will retire this month after more than 30 years with the company. Her departure marks a planned leadership transition that began in February, when Zhicong Wang was appointed Vice Chairman of Intel China. The two executives have worked closely to ensure a smooth handover.

Since joining Intel in 1994, Dr. Rui Wang has held multiple senior technical and business roles across the company’s global and China operations. She played a key role in advancing technology innovation, strengthening collaboration with industry partners, and, since 2021, redefining Intel’s China strategy with an upgraded organizational structure and deeper integration with global operations.

The leadership change comes as Intel celebrates its 40th anniversary in the Chinese market. Zhicong Wang emphasized that Intel remains committed to supporting China’s digital transformation and will continue to focus on local demand while working with customers and partners to seize new opportunities in areas such as digitalization, intelligence, and sustainability.

Intel China said it will continue to leverage its localized operations—from R&D and manufacturing to sales and technical support—alongside its ecosystem advantages to drive innovation and industry collaboration.
