Europe's Top 30 PCB Manufacturers Revealed: Germany, Austria, and Switzerland Lead Shrinking Market

According to recent industry reports, Europe's PCB industry has seen a decades-long decline, dropping from 20–30% of global production in the 1990s to just 2% today. Yet, a core group of manufacturers continues to hold firm — with Germany remaining the dominant force in the region. In 2024, Germany accounted for 31.8% of European PCB output, valued at €572.2 million. Austria and Switzerland jointly contributed €361.5 million, or 20.0% of the total. Altogether, the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) represented 51.8% of the continent's PCB production, totaling €933.7 million.

Other major contributors included the UK (€249.6 million, 13.8%), Italy (€221.8 million, 12.3%), and Belgium and France (€188.8 million, 10.4%). The rest — spanning Central Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, Scandinavia, the Baltics, the Netherlands, and Eastern Europe — made up the remaining 11.6%, or €210.8 million.

In total, Europe's PCB production reached approximately €1.8 billion in 2024 (excluding Russia and Belarus).

As presented by industry expert Dieter G. Weiss at Evertiq Expo Berlin on June 5, 2025, the ranking of Europe's top 30 PCB manufacturers is based on 2024 revenue. Austria's AT&S took the top spot, followed by Germany's Würth GmbH & Co KG and KSG GmbH & Co KG.

Leading Market Segments:

● Industrial electronics remained the largest end-use sector, contributing €572.7 million (31.7%).

● Defence came second at €291.8 million (16.1%), with year-over-year growth of 62%.

● Mobility followed at €280.6 million (15.5%), and

● Medical electronics accounted for €233.4 million (12.9%).

● Air & Space also showed strong growth at 15% YoY.
